MIESCOR Reinforces MERALCO on AOPL Act Implementation
Pursuant to RA No. 11361 or the Anti-Obstruction of Power Lines (AOPL) Act, MIESCOR shares Meralco’s mission to guarantee uninterrupted supply of electricity and safeguard the Power Line Corridor (PLC) within the franchise from potential threats. The AOPL Act ensures the seamless transmission of electricity while maintaining the integrity of the country’s transmission and distribution systems by keeping essential spaces clear of dangerous obstructions.

MIESCOR dedicated a specialized team to collaborate closely with Meralco, an authorized Power Line Operator (PLO). One of the team’s key responsibilities is to evaluate, survey, and pre-approve applications from property owners seeking a PLO certificate, prior to the issuance of a building permit. They meticulously follow established guidelines to ensure the safety and reliability of the electrical infrastructure.

The team also serves as vigilant watchdogs, reporting ongoing construction projects that could potentially pose threats to future projects of Meralco.

To support and regulate these activities effectively, the Department of Interior and Local Government ordered Local Government Units (LGUs) to educate property owners on compliance with the requirements, a proactive approach that aims to prevent unlawful acts that could compromise the integrity of power line corridors and the safety of the communities.

MIESCOR understands that a reliable power supply is essential to the nation’s well-being and development. The Company remains dedicated to supporting Meralco and other distribution utilities across the country, benefiting not only the DUs but also the people and the communities they serve.
